Chao is a tall man, standing at exactly 7ft tall. If you were to count the black deathhawk with red tips at the top, he'd be over 8 feet tall, making it necessary for him to duck when going through doors. His ensemble includes a black skirt that falls just short of his knees, which is stitched in places and has chains interwoven across the sides, torn, fishnet leggings over his legs, and black Demonia platform boots with steel toes and decorative, metal spikes (which are of no use as weapons). He wears a stressed “Pretentious Moi?” shirt that is all but completely slashed, with many of the strands woven together into intricate weave patterns, while many are left as-is.

Beneath this shirt, he wears a fishnet top. Black leggings serve as fingerless gloves that run the length of his forearm and stop a few inches shy of his elbows. Numerous black bracelets with a variety of metal spikes and studs adorn his wrists. He wears black nail polish with clear coating, black eye makeup, black lipstick, pale foundation that gives him an almost ghostlike complexion, and numerous silver chains dangle from his neck, with the longest suspending a large, silver ankh. (None of this silver is so pure as to be able to be weaponised against shapeshifters.) Chao stands tall, chest out, shoulders back, and moves languidly, presenting an air (not a pretense) of confidence.

Chao has a morbid sense of humour, but he's not actually nihilistic and doesn't claim to be. Although his height can be intimidating, and his outward appearance is off-putting to people outside of his subculture, he's a friendly sort, although often slow to approach people. The reason that he's slow to approach people is that he likes to be observant, to try to understand what makes them tick and how best to interact with them.

Music and art are his passion, especially dark and macabre art. Where music is concerned, he favours deathrock, then gothic rock, darkwave, coldwave, and music outside of his subcultural umbrella, such as (some) classic rock, metal, and classical music. Because of his passion for the music that he likes, and the subculture around it, he enjoys DJing, so that he can promote the bands and their music, and turn people on to what he likes.

This carries over greatly to the Hunt. He approaches the supernatural the same way that he approaches other people, when and if he deigns it a good idea to approach them at all. That is, he observes them first and tries to get a feel for how best to approach them. Even if he deems it a bad idea to approach them at all, he still uses this approach, for without it, how could he ever possibly hope to understand?
