Backstory

Physical Description:
Simon is a young man, fairly physical but not especially imposing. His dark hair and eyes contrast his light skin in a way that doesn't stand out, but they certainly don't hurt the air of authority he sometimes projects when the situation calls for it. He usually dresses practically: well-worn T-shirts and jeans, sometimes with noticeable wear, and the occasional hoodie for the occasional cold weather. There's a security guard uniform tucked away in the trunk of his car, though it's unlikely to come out. His stance is most often upright - alert, confident, but not arrogant. (He's not some Silver Fang.)

Personality:
Simon is kind yet stern. He didn't exactly have an easy childhood, nor yet a hard one - helping others is in his nature, having been right in the middle of those in lesser and greater need than him. It's not quite a martyr complex, just the urge to help and protect. That's what drives him right now, along with the need to learn more about what exactly is happening to him, and basically to survive.

Backstory:
Simon grew up in upstate New York as the middle child of an older sister and younger brother. His siblings, both significantly more reckless than he was, often needed watching, or so it seemed to him - their parents usually stayed busy. Not really one for formal schooling, despite a decent amount of raw intelligence, he set out on his own shortly after high school, seeing his family all about to go their separate ways in turn. The habits he developed led him to a career as a security guard - a night guard, the only position he could readily find without much experience - at a nursing home. Not particularly exciting, but…

A few months into the job, there was a *disturbance* around 1 AM. A slamming sound at the other end of the building, like a door being forced open, *hard*. Instinct kicked in, and he started evacuating the residents. Bleary-eyed, confused, and not all fully capable of walking under their own power, they still started filing out in a straight line, as he directed. This quick action proved prudent, as it turns out the intruders had guns - possibly hoping to kidnap one of the residents for ransom? He still isn't sure what the motive was, because as they were all filing to safety, he took two in the chest and fell unconscious.

Under the half moon, Simon lay bleeding out, until something else took hold, his First Change. The assailants - a team of three, maybe, from what he can remember? - were torn to ribbons, leaving a bloody mess in the building's main corridor.

Horrified and confused, Simon cleaned himself up, got in his beater of a car, and *drove* - nowhere in particular, just *away*. As the sun was coming up, he found a cheap motel to stay in, waking up after a fitful few hours of sleep to a knock on the door. The visitor gave her name, said she was a “Bone Gnawer” (what?), and “asked” (demanded is more like it) to come in. In a rush of conversation, he got read into his new life as a Garou. No one had ever dropped him any hint, any sign, so every new piece of information dropped like a brick on his already exhausted head. When the visitor left, he decided his best plan was to lock the door, try to sleep until they kicked him out, and then… keep driving, far away. With a strange, almost manic energy, he somehow made it to Florida, before sheer exhaustion crashed in and he had to find another place to sleep.
