Return to Vampire House Rules
At the first level of Thaumaturgy, the vampire automatically gains a single Level One ritual. To learn further rituals, the thaumaturge must find someone to teach him, or learn the ritual from a scroll, tome, or other archive. Learning a new ritual can take anywhere from a few nights (Level One ritual) to months or years (Level Five ritual). Some mystics have studied individual rituals for decades, or even centuries. Unless stated otherwise, a ritual requires five minutes per level to cast.
Rituals will be learned using these steps and are for ALL blood sorcery (Thaumaturgy, Necromancy): Conditions; you must Have the appropriate Discipline at the appropriate level to learn a ritual at its rating level.
Cost: Rituals are free to be taught IC from the appropriate teacher or by researching and learning on your own IC twice a month. After that it will cost XP in the amount of 2*the ritual rating.
There are two options for learning a Ritual;
1. If your character is in good standing with the clan that teaches it (ex. a loyal Tremere or Giovanni), then they may simply request to have the ritual taught to them and after the lesson may move on to the Mastery rolls.
- OR -
2. If they are unable to gain approval, or would prefer to simply research it on their own then the following rules apply for researching it.
Mastering a ritual requires an extended roll of Intelligence + Occult with a difficulty of the ritual's level +3. The number of successes needed is equal to the ritual's level x3. The roll can be made once every number of days equal to the rating of the ritual, same as during the research phase.

Note Diablorizing a vampire with these disciplines do not grant the Kindred automatic access to the rituals. you will still need learn the rituals this way and that is IF you get a mentor for the Discipline.
