Physical Description:
Her mixed heritage is obvious immediately. Elysse has light caramel colored skin and startling amber eyes with green flecks. She is thin and looks very 'young' for her age. And with the right makeover, she could even be called beautiful.

Personality:
Elysse is a quiet listener and when she speaks, it is wise to listen. More often than not, she has insights and information are worth hearing.

Backstory:
Elysse DuBois was born to a Creole family in New Orleans in October 1981. Her grandmother had an occult shop on Bourbon Street that sold 'VooDoo' souvenirs and paraphernalia - charms, dolls, jewelry you name it. She and her younger sisters spent a lot of time with and learned a great deal from Bigmama Barrilleaux, a respected Mambo in the Voudoun community. Since her mother worked two jobs and her father was MIA from Operation Desert Storm, she and her sisters spent time at the shop and at Voudoun services after school and on weekends. She 'learned' to read tarot and ‘signs and portents’ from Bigmama and learned much about how to prepare and perform Voodoo Rituals.Her family didn't have a lot but they had a 'good' life. Elysse also did very well in school, since she was a bright girl and her mother continually stressed that an education was the only way to get out of their life. Her mother didn’t want Elysse to have to wait tables for a living like her. With her outstanding academic performance, Elysse won scholarships and grants and had a free-ride to Xavier University of Louisiana. She graduated summa cum laude with a dual degrees in psychology and sociology and was looking into Masters programs. She was on her way up and out and her future was bright. Then came Katrina…

The storm was huge and the surge and rainfall were catastrophic. New Orleans had weathered scores of storms before but this one overwhelmed the poorly maintained levies and pump system. The call for evacuation came too late. When her mother and younger sisters drowned, Elysse was away with her Bigmama on the higher ground of the French Quarter. For days people and animals were found hanging in trees or deposited on the ground as the water receded. FEMA found her family in the attic of their home, trapped there with no escape from the rising flood.

Elysse was devastated and had lost everyone but her Bigmama, the old Mambo. And like so many others, they moved away. The memories were just too painful. They moved in with her father's brother Leroy DuBois in Jacksonville, Florida. Elysse continued to do well in school to honor her mother's wishes. But she was now driven to make a difference. She felt compelled to help others cope with the horrors that life could visit on them. Elysse doubled down on psychology. She was going to be a Doctor, a 'Shrink' as Bigmama put it. And Elysse spent time with the elder Mambo as the old lady aged into senility. Bigmama actually lived to see her get into Med School. She was so proud of her 'tifi' or 'petite fille'. Smiling Elysse remembered the elder lady had always called her that, since despite closing in on 30, Elysse still looked to be in her late teens. The old Mambo passed that year before her ‘tifi’ could finish Med School. After placing her grandmother's urn next to her mother's and sister's back in New Orleans, she returned to finish her education - never once losing sight of her goal to become a 'shrink'.

She was an established Psychiatrist when she met Michael Blackburn. She found him intriguing and mysterious and saw him whenever her work load would allow. Despite herself, the more time she spent with him the more drawn she was to him. He kept hinting at an offer she wouldn't be able to refuse. She sensed it would be life changing but had no idea it would be life-ending…

Michael introduced her to a world that she had only dreamed of but now she was a part of. That had been well over a decade ago and after a period of tutelage into the mysteries of the Blood, she was back seeing patients as a Psychiatrist but, of course, could now only work nights. One of these patients, Henrietta Holzherz, had proven very interesting and shown potential. Elysse had spoken to Michael Blackburn about her and he had taken an interest and requested to meet her…

Notes:
Eylsse Dubois is an attractive young 'mulatto' lady who appears a great deal younger than she actually is. She is intelligent and exceptionally perceptive and has a knack for reading people, which all works in her favor as a Psychiatrist. She is prone to startling insights and 'fore-sights' on occasion. And this was all PRIOR to Embrace. She is definitely a 'natural' for Auspex and Dominate.
