He usually dresses in shirts and shorts depending on the weather. At working he dresses more academicly sound, but only when expected.

Easy going and generally tries to stay afloat in a world he thinks is running wild in all the wrong places.
Prefering studing to “fun” and prefering field trips to office work.

Backstory:
First Life
On banks of the Caquetá Riverin the Amazon Basin on what would become the border of modern Columbia and Peru some 4.000 years later, Shining Jaguar lived with his tribe.
In his adolescence he was hunting with the hunters, gaining valuable experience in survival and reconnaissance in the jungle. One day he stumbled across a severely wounded jaguar, and as he went to it to end its suffering it looked at him, not like an animal, but almost like a wounded hunter with no fear and an understanding of what was happening. He inspected the wounds and saw that it had broken arrows made from a brittle and ineffective shining metal and the wounds were like burns. This jaguar was no normal jaguar, but a spirit from the jungle, why else would it be before him? He knew he had to save it or be cursed. He brought the jaguar back to his tribe, removed the arrow tips carefully, bound the wounds with herbs and gave it food. The next day the jaguar was gone, and Shining Jaguar had his name, the silver pieces he had made into a wristband so the experience would always be with him.
Mostly it was a peaceful existence though rival tribes were present; in times of conflict, he would be found in the skirmishes while also being present on the front lines. He reveled in fighting and contest, be in a hunt or a war. Although he was fond of contest the survival and growth of his tribe was always the priority. By being the biggest tribe, you were more likely to prosper. As the years went on and more conflicts occurred, he would rise in esteem and eventually assume the role of chieftain, this made his focus even stronger. During his reign the tribe’sshamans learnt a ritual that was said to return warriors of old to protect the tribe in times of need. This ritual was supposedly handed down from half-jaguar gods to aid humans against evil spirits. Shining Jaguar embraced the belief of the guardians, and all the wisest shamans, the most cunning hunters and the fiercest warriors were buried using the rites. His reign as chieftain ended in a hunt where his hunting party was ambushed by an enemy war party, the fighting was fierce and, in the end, Shining Jaguar stood as last man. He was gravely wounded and could barely stand, let alone move. He heard a sound behind him and as he turned, he fell to his knees and his eyes met the eyes of a giant jaguar who was slowly walking towards him, yet instead of killing him it carried him back to his tribe before it ran into the jungle again.
Unlike the jaguar he had helped, Shining Jaguar did not make it. Too gravely wounded to save he died shortly after he was left on the outskirts of the village.
He was laid to rest as any important people in his tribe, gutted and rubbed with balsams before being smoked over scented wood while the shamans sang for him.
Shining Jaguar would walk the jungles of the underworld for millennia while waiting to be called back to defend his tribe, he put an honor in his duty and when the moment for return appeared, he took it.
Second Life
Alexander Young was a young and hopelessly naïve eco-activist doing his thesis(phd) in indigenous Amazonian people and how to uplift them into a modern life at University of North Florida (UNF). He believed that the best way to learn was to experience it in the flesh and he had found an opportunity to do so, a project in Brazil aimed to secure undiscovered tribes and work with already connected tribes for a safe transition into modern society.
In his professional life he works with applying statistical techniques to the protocols of first contact and the trip will seek to provide data on his thesis and serving as a welcomed trip outside of the US.
Alexander’s approach to life was through a happy optimism and a sound logic, using both in as many aspects in his life as he could. This could put a strain on the friendships he had, but those who stuck around was also in it for life.
His hobbies include, but are not limited to; hiking, reading basic psychology books and binge -watching science sitcoms, of course he will also take any offers of boardgames and really any chance to be social despite being somewhat awkward.
Alexander grew up in something as rare as a nuclear family, mom, dad and his two siblings. His family is relatively wealthy due to investments and an inheritance from his grandparents who died all too early. A happy childhood all in all where he as the middle child were mostly left to his own devises if he didn’t step out of line. He kept to this code all his life.
Alexander arrived in Rio de Janeiro, prepared for a three month stay including a trip into the amazon to the research camp. The camp is set in the western part of Brazil where Colombia and Peru border it. When he arrived at the camp, he was thrilled to see that the tribes that was already part of the program seems positive with the change and were, generally, looking forward to learning instead of waring. He spends a month befriending a few of the more open tribesmen and eventually ended up talking them into showing him their old heartland up the river. The Caquetá is a wild river, so sailing upstream is out of the question, but as an avid hiker he took the chance of walking. In the heat of the moment, he didn’t inform the leaders of the camp that he was leaving and followed the tribesmen away form camp and upstream.
Upstream he saw firsthand why the tribe had been pushed out, a mix of illegal forestry and poaching flourished in this side of the border. Horrified by the sight Alexander urged the tribesmen to push on, so he could document this catastrophe. The group slept in the jungle three times before arriving to a series of waterfalls and torrents. The sight was magnificent, when you looked at the right angle you could almost forget the forestry and poaching. Having seen this and having taken photographs along the way Alexander was satisfied.
The group slept for one last night before heading home. Alexander spent much time when they arrived back at camp trying to get back into the good graces of the leading professor, as he had exposed them all to immense danger from both poachers and illicit deforestation companies.
Alexander spendsthe rest of the time doing his research and trying to get the more well integrated tribes to do interviews, him knowing Portuguese did ease the process a little. He gained a frail degree of friendship with the tribe, and he found out that some of younger and more progressive memberwere living in Florida, not too far from Jacksonville. An opportunity for different view on the entire uplifting process, and maybe the result of it? He had to try to speak to them.
Upon returning to Florida, he got in touch with the younger people living there and set up at meeting. He met themand finished the interview, happy with the data he had collected he drove home. Alexander would never see home again; he was hit by drunk driver. As he was thrown through the windshield and felt the asphalt against his body, he stopped feeling. He could see his lifeless body in the dirt, a peculiar man looked at him. The man had tattoos, warpaint and dressed as an Amazonian, there he was offered a deal. Return to life bound with the spirit of the old warrior, return to life with a purpose, orpass on to the underworld as everyone did when they died.
Third Life
Alexander had taken the offer, and while his soul underwent the trials of the underworld Shining Jaguar took control of the body, covered up the wounds best he could, and he returned to the people he had left earlier. When he arrived, he reminded them of the stories they all knew and when they noticed the injuries they knew that the stories were true. Most of them covered and tried to run, but two of them stepped up and offered to help “Alexander” return to the Amazon. The journey took weeks, with boat and at one time a small plane. Eventually Shining Jaguar made his way to the elders of the tribe and as they chanted the spell of going westward Alexander joined his body again and merged with Shining Jaguar, the two spent a few days getting used to what had happened and learning the basics of what they now were before making their way back to Florida, seeing as that was where they could do the most to stop the destruction of the world. Follow the money.
Alexander returned and was able to continue his thesis although he had some explanations to do since he did not have any contact with his supervisorand there was a brief missing person report filed. After enduring the bureaucracy nightmare, he was back on track, both with the thesis and his teaching.
Despite few alterations he is mostly himself.He has become more ecological, buying more eco friendly alternatives. Getting the high mileage car over the performance version. Clothing is also environmentally friendly, at least as much as they can be. He has become more passionate, and when he is teaching, he is more direct in his opposition to exploitation, not as carefulas he would normally be.
