He looked like a boxer and he was until his untimely end in a 'freak' racing accident. He opened a local gymnasium along with his partner and they trained young boxers together.

John had always been impatient with people. He was much better with anything mechanical or electronic and became quite skilled working with such things - for which he had a 'knack'. 
John had one good friend, Leroy Jenkins, since childhood and they had athletics and boxing in common, so they opened a Gymnasium together.

John Stone was a large muscular man quick to react and quick on his feet. He looked like a linebacker and was until a career ending knee injury. He looked like a boxer and he was until his untimely end in a 'freak' racing accident. He opened a local gymnasium along with his partner and they trained young boxers together. John had always been an impatient man and not terribly good with people so he turned his hand to anything mechanical or electronic and became quite skilled working with such things - for which he had a 'knack'.
John had one good friend, Leroy Jenkins, since childhood and they had athletics and boxing in common, so they opened a Gymnasium together. He eventually found a woman who could see past his social ineptness and they were married and loved each other dearly. They had harsh words the morning prior to his fatal wreck and he feels driven to somehow resolve this and reconcile with his wife. He also suspects foul play involving his race car.
