| Collin decided he a was going to go outside he thought I am already ahead on homework for weeks why not what are they going to do expel me. Collin had overheard rumors about the cameras not working right anymore there were conversations he overhead about this place used to be a sanitarium and an old gangsters place. Some of the children spoke in hush tones about ghosts haunting the grounds and sometimes the older students came up missing or changed. He begun to sneak as best he could avoiding security guards who for the most part were not paying that much attention. He went outside wandering around. The day was a warning day the environment on the campus felt less malicious. | he saw what appeared to be a latina teenager appearing to be 18 or 19 in a tee shirt jeans and sneakers clothing that was not of the schools uniform from a distance off. He looked away it seemed as if she disappeared. He begun to walk to where he saw her last. Looking around he sees her again close by the lake. He goes and walks over by her. He says "Hi I'm Collin Murphy. Who are you? I was thinking I was going to be the only one out here. The teenager turns to Collin "I am Vera Rodriguez. I don't go to this school I already had graduated school I had a 4 0 g p a. My family was to I just visit sometimes, because I have family that works here. It's good to meet you Collin." Collin speaks "It is good to meet you as well." He went to shake her hand bit was waved off.he shrugged at that and looked at Vera spoke. "Where do you live I live in Anguiler Hills?" Vera chuckled a bit got a bit sad. "Well like many Mexican Americans I was born in East L A. It was rough out there but it's home. Collin nods not knowing to much about East Los Angeles other than some news stories and things his parents had to say about it which were not flattering. " Collin asked Vera do you speak Spanish? Vera had a look in her face that showed a bit of mockery and Collin should know the answer. "Well at least that is not the worst thing I have heard. What just because I look Mexican do you automatically think we all speak Spanish and have all our relatives in one house?" Collin stammered a bot feeling embarrassed. "I don't know I want to keep up with learning Spanish. She laughed lightly and angelicly. "Sorry just fucking around a bit Ese you white people always uptight no wonder you here about so many heart attacks in white people jeez." Collin laughs "Alright I will try not be so uptight ,but I am Irish not white. Just ask the English " Vera said" Vera shows her arm off and speaks. " Your not tanned like me and you look like a picture perfect white boy red hair and all.it is easier to speak Spanish and live life if you are not so uptight." He speaks "Ok so relaxed got it be like the moon.' They were by the lake Collin laid down looking at it t. It was windy , and he could see the ripples on the water he chucked a couple rocks watching them plop into the water and the ripples show off. Collin speaks to Vera" So what were your favorite classes in school?" She replied "Math and physics were fun to me. I am good at math if there was a math off I could be most anyone even some of the college kids. I had taken some classes that were meant for the college levels. I was good at them. Physics is just fun. Plus I did it so I could be a role model for women and Latinos by showing that science is not just a guy thing. " Collin spoke. "I like art and math from what I have read there is a relationship between the two." The administrator spoke "Mr. Murphy we called you here to let you know that due to your excellence in your studies we are going to advance you several grades. We trust that you will make sure you keep up with your new work load." Collin look dumb founded. He said "Thanks I will." Collin felt weirdly good about what happened. He was excused.
