Level 5 Thaumaturgy Ritual
It is through this ritual that the Horned Society is able to lay claim to the power of Investments and Dark Thaumaturgy. After having gained a Demon’s True Name and having them summoned and bound, the Thaumaturge engages in a contest of wills as he dominates the summoned fiend and tears away at its essence.
System: The summoner engages in an extended willpower roll with the demon. Each success will grant the summoner one point of Essence, while a failure will return one to the demon. On a botch the ritual automatically fails and all Essence is returned to the Demon. Each Demon is capable of granting points of Essence equal to their Willpower. The Thaumaturge must gain Essence equal to the XP cost of the Investment/Dark Thaumaturgy they desire before they can spend XP to purchase it.
