The History of the Teomallki

1529: The spanish, along with LaSombra vampires and the Shadow Lords tribe of the Garou (Though neither realized the other was there, different boats, different landing places) land in south america. Bringing with them what at the time was a lesser Wyrmbane. Smallpox.

At this time there are close to 21 MILLION people in south america.

After a short but brutal engagement with the Mallki, both groups leave south america for the Caribbean and north america. But Smallpox stays.

1531: Smallpox grows in power and becomes one of the most powerful wyrmbanes in the new world. Due to their utter lack of immunity to any kind of pox, and the lack of cows (And thus cowpox, which is far easier to survive), nearly 90% of the south american population dies to smallpox. The disease is a wildfire. And those killed by it empower the wyrm, and smallpox itself, making it more likely to kill. The number of followers worshiping the various pantheons of deities in south america is reduced by 90%, sending the gods into systemic shock from the sudden, abrupt, and unavoidable reduction in faith. The death and decay gives rise to multiple powerful wyrmbanes that fight alongside Smallpox in the umbra. And the gods, wounded, weakened, and barely able to maintain consciousness, either die in the battles, or slip into comas.

1537: The mallki fracture into two groups over a plan devised by the intimallki. They plan to feed the gods faith though the most powerful method that exists, human sacrifice. Their plan is to rouse them long enough to defeat smallpox and the wyrmbanes that rose around him. Many see the danger of this, and refuse to aid them. Some gods wake, but those roused by human sacrifice are changed forever. Rarely for the better. Many do not rouse at all...

1579: For fifty years the people of south america have battled the wyrm. The Fera are dying, the Mallki are being destroyed, and then the spanish return. With the Shadow Lords leading the charge. They come at the absolute worst time. Huitzilopochtli, leader of the pantheon and one of the few gods to retain the power to fight Smallpox and win, rallies all of the Mallki, and all of the mortals remaining to fight smallpox at it's seat of power. But the Shadow Lords see this, and foolishly label both parties as being of the wyrm. They slam into the Mallki flank, a decision that will lead to the death of Huitzilopochtli, and the loss of any hope that the people had left. The spanish take over in the aftermath, and eventually the technocrats destroy smallpox. But the damage is done. The gods are either dead, corrupted, or comatose. All is lost.

2000: The creation of the storms rouses Ah Muzen Cab, and his wife, Colel Cab. They strive in secret for years to find the chosen's descendants. At the same time the Intimallki perfect a new version of the spell of going westward to the sunrise, giving birth to the Teomallki. Several other gods wake up slowly as the Teomallki gain power, and worship them once again. Modern culture spreads knowledge of the mayan, aztec, an incan gods. And they slowly start to rouse.


The factions:
In our game we have two major factions within the Teomallki. The Seekers of Harmony(The PCs), and the Seekers of Blood(The bad guys).
The Seekers of Harmony: Those who wish to return to the old ways, before human sacrifice, are known as the seekers of harmony. They wish to wake, purify and revive the gods, and to live in peace and harmony with those around them.

The Seekers of Blood: Those Mallki that descend from the original faction that used human sacrifice see power as the only way to restore their people. They tolerate no intrusions in what they see as their ancestral lands, and use blood rituals to rouse and direct the corrupt gods that answer their calls.
