HISTORY:
The First Life.
Aneksi was born a simple, plain commoner, with a pure zeal and a lust for life itself that burned through her. People were interesting and fascinating, and so was life itself. She learned what people wanted, offered them what they liked, learned so much. By the time she was considered a woman, she was a proper entertainer, either offering soothsaying prophecies for the rich and the nobility, or learning artisanry, or how to use a bow or melee weapon for the sake of a gladiator-style battle, or just plain how to put on a good show. Her life was long, fruitful, and beautiful, and she lived and learned to the fullest, but it ended the same as any other mortal life does. As time went by, the many riches left for her were plundered or destroyed, but she yearned to live again. A'aru could never be as beautiful as existence.
The Second Life.
Noelle Shepard was a pretty blonde who grew up in New York, rarely had to want or ask for anything, and drifted through life the way her hair sails through the wind. She became a model because a man offered to make her rich, and she didn't see any reason to say no. He just wanted things from her, but it didn't really matter to her. She never wanted, she never hoped, not unless one counted wanting that one ice cream sundae and having to watch her weight.
Her death was a simple one, a car accident while her friend was driving, taking them both into the river, where the back of her head cracked against the glass. The friend had been drinking, but Noelle hadn't said anything, just trusting that everything would be okay. Little did she know that she was right.
The Hajj.
The two met and spoke to each other, the perfect match in many ways. Noelle was beautiful in a way that Aneksi had never been and always wanted to be. Aneksi was forceful and assertive in a way that Noelle always wanted to be. Both of them, however, were used to some degree of guile and agility. Sometimes she could just intuit who would assist her, other times she found a burqa and pretended to be Muslim. The way home burned within her, and she was Reborn.
The Third Life.
After learning the ways of her new people, it was easy enough to get back home and set up. No one had ever found her body, and she was able to feign temporary amnesia. However, it was exceptionally easy to recognize how little she had with her old friends, Noelle's old friends. It wasn't just because of the golden spark in her eyes now, but she'd changed in ways she'd never truly understand even if she cared to learn. There were far too many important things life now had to offer.
Speaking to the man who expected her to give over her body for fame and money wasn't just odd to her now, it was amusing. She asked him, flat out, why she even needed him. When he told her to leave and tried to get her blackballed, she merely spoke with some of his rivals, as well as giving them dirt on him.
It no longer felt truly right to call herself either Noelle or Aneksi, except both, so she changed her name. Noelle Aneksi, not much of a change, but enough to make her feel herself. Beyond that, she developed a nickname that fit her in either side and truly befit both: Trance, whether just to relax and to meditate, or to divine the future. That tendency - her Second Life friends used to call it "spacing out" - can often be noticed when she's simply relaxing.
She dyed her hair blue and has kept it properly maintained, and no doubt she'll have to change her look in a generation or so. In all honesty, she doesn't want to be famous, but knows that most Sakhmu just can't help it. Until then, she's gotten to work as a model in Jacksonville
