Player: J

Appearance: 2
Status: 3
Veil Rating: 3

Obvious Details:

  • Jim's outfit just screams 'Technocrat,' dressing in the standard issue attire of the Neutralization Specialist Corps of the Void Engineers, who often work hand-in-hand with the New World Order; or as they're often called, the 'Black Suits.'

Less Than Obvious Details:
Rank: 3: Jim is a decorated Voidcraft pilot, having run multiple tours of duty beyond the Horizon. Considered an up-and-coming ace by the Border Corps Division, his former superiors speak highly of him, after he was reassigned by the ETD to the NSC. Unfortunately, ace Voidcraft pilots don't see much action on the Mudball, so this doesn't mean as much on the Front Lines as it would beyond Conventional Space. He is, however, a full-fledged Enlightened Agent, with all of the rights and responsibilities that come with it. In light of his exemplary service, he was awarded a Gold Badge in July of 2020, but as of right now it’s only on a probationary basis. He is the superior officer of Agent Mikkelsen.

Status (Technocratic Union): 4:

  • Facilitated the recruitment of Violet Lombardi (a.k.a. the famous pop-star known as 'V.V.') into the Technocratic Union.
  • Brought the existence of Threat Null to the attention of the Starke Council, assisted in protecting the Swamps from an invasion from the aforementioned Threat Null.
  • Ran point on a Technocratic surveillance operation against Pentex when it became known they were using EDEs (read: Wyrm Banes) to corrupt the Masses. Led to an impromptu joint op with the Imbued of the Division.
  • Led a team of Technocratic Agents against Threat Null. Zero casualties, zero injuries... amongst the Technocrats, anyway, which is all the Union cares about.
  • Led the team that extracted Lily Armstrong from a Nephandi cult, killing their leader in the process.

Veil Rating: 3: In the opinion of the Starke Council, if there's one thing the Technocracy is good for, it's this: Their zealous enforcement of the Consensus means the Veil is almost a non-issue for them. Only the Camarilla has their number when it comes to Veil enforcement.

Merits:

  • Inner Strength: Virtually nothing phases this guy.
  • Master of Red Tape: Q Division is every bit as obstinately bureaucratic as the Void Engineer quartermasters on the New Cop. He's used to having to sweet talk the people who can give him the big guns when he needs them.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: His work as a pilot and his experience with Technocratic Hypertech has given him an uncanny understanding of machinery, both mundane and technomagickal.
  • Prestigious Mentor: Jim is one of the two proteges of Supervisor Captain-Engineer Otis Barton, Jr., a legend among the Void Engineers' Earth Frontier Division, and the head of the Void Engineers not just in the Gainesville Symposium, but in the entire state of Florida. He commands respect from the entire Symposium and has more than earned his reputation.
  • Rising Star: See above, for 'Status.' His string of high-profile successes did not go unnoticed by his superiors.

Flaws:

  • Icy: He's not eager to get close to anybody. To those who don't know him, he'd be more suited to the New World Order than the Void Engineers, speaking in curt, Technobabbling phrases, and seems to actively resist any attempt to get to know him on a personal level. Is there a reason for that?
  • Rose-Colored Mirrorshades: Tech Holds All the Answers. Especially when the earth is being threatened by things beyond the limits of Conventional Space that even most RDs have only ever seen in their nightmares.
  • Technobabbler: Affirmative. Subject expressing unmutuality. Possible RD. Requesting clearance to proceed with Contingency Two.
  • Special Responsibility: Let's just say there's a reason his leash is a bit longer than other Technocratic Enlightened Agents. But that comes with a price, and increased scrutiny..

Banality Score: 9
