Notes on Increasing Backgrounds with XP

General

  1. Allies, Contacts, mentor and other BGs representing named NPCs must first be gained/increased through RP.
  2. Resources and Influence increase must be justified with In-Character actions.

Vampires

  1. Generations can only be increased with Diablerie
  2. Domain and Status is gained through the machinations of Kindred society In-Character.
  3. Herd will require good role-play or active journaling to justify.

Reborn

  1. Arcane, Ba/Sampa/Contemplation, Ka/Illi/Joss, Memory/Tao can be acquired or increased during the Reborn's cycle between lives
  2. Tomb and Vessel/Jade Talisman can be acquired during play or with properly kept Journal submissions.
  3. Companion can be acquired through a ritual. Once acquired, it can be increased as per rule 1.

Demons

  1. Buying Eminence with EXP requires characters to have gained commendations from the Infernal Court, or other forms of renown from other demons in-game. It is essentially the Infernal equivalent of Status or Influence.
  2. Ritual Knowledge may only be taken at character creation and cannot be purchased afterward.
  3. Pacts, Cult, Thralls, and Followers all require journaling or scene rewards for justification.
