The setting is made as an amalgamation of all the splat's creation settings. So I've put them in a pot, stirred, and poked it till this fell out. And it's the setting we use.

The beginning

In the beginning there was nothing. A swirling maelstrom of chaos and randomness. Within that chaos the Domains came to being spontaneously. Each domain coalesced around one or more deities. These deities struggled at first to exist in a reality with no rules, no reason, and no certainty. Eventually those who were not inimical to each other came together and hatched a plan. To create a bubble within the chaos, and to set down rules for existence within that bubble.

The two most powerful deities, Yahweh, and Gaia, were the most powerful and tasked themselves with the creation of this bubble. Yahweh gave up the vast majority of his power, and Gaia gave up her body to create the bubble. When this was complete Yahweh used part of his remaining power to create the heavenly host as the other gods poured their essence into the bubble. Each god sacrificed around 95% of their power. The equivalent of quadrillions of points of quintessence per deity.

As each different deity poured their power and essence into the bubble, it filled with energy, which the heavenly host shaped into our reality. As the sun gods like Amun Ra and Apollo poured their power in, the raw stuff for the creation of stars appeared in reality. When gods like Geb poured their essence in, the planets came into being and so on.

There were powers outside that did not want to join in. Cthonic gods, eldritch powers, and one in particular. The Devouring worm. Many of them fell to the worm, which would eventually become known as Apophis. The act of devouring so many other mixed powers and domains was that it became a being of corruption incarnate. Apophis, the corrupter, would lay siege to reality from that day on and Ra would fight him nightly to drive him off. Many other deities take turns through out the day driving off Apophis, but eventually he managed to break in.

On that day... the weaver went mad...

Every time he broke into reality, something would go awry.

Eventually, he broke in and Caine invented murder...

The world as it is now

The gods live in a state of truce. They don't fight, because it serves no purpose. When gods quarrel it's generally for interpersonal reasons. Family misgivings and personal quarrels. Gaia is in a coma, from her many wounds, and the other gods are only now realizing that the bubble is not as sturdy as they thought. And with 95% of their power gone, it is hard for them to do anything about it. As what remaining power they have left is already put towards other things.

The world is in a bad place, and if the god's can't fix it? Who can?
