Merits:

  • Angelic Gaze: -1 Difficulty on all Leadership, Intimidation, and Empathy rolls. Double-edged sword; her unnaturally-colored eyes mark her as obviously supernatural if she's not hiding them.
  • Catnapper: Regains willpower every day so long as she sleeps for six to eight hours total during a 24-hour period. These hours do not have to be consecutive.
  • Enchanting Voice: -2 difficulty to all rolls involving the use of voice to give orders, seduce, charm, or persuade.
  • Way with Words: +2 dice on any Expression roll that involves speaking or writing.

Flaws:

  • Chronically Shy: +2 difficulty to any social roll with strangers, or in any situation in which she is the center of attention. These difficulty penalties can stack.
  • Eccentric Appearance: +2 difficulty to an social roll with anyone not familiar with goth subculture. Her appearance sticks out under most circumstances, making it difficult to remain unnoticed.
  • Insensitive: +2 difficulty to any Empathy rolls.
  • Nightmares: Must roll Willpower (Difficulty 7) whenever she goes to bed (in game-terms, once per day) in order to sleep through the night without being tormented by nightmares. If this roll fails, add +2 difficulty for the first Ability or Attribute roll she makes that deals with other demons for that day.
  • Youthful Appearance: Easily mistaken for being a minor. Must present a valid (or at least, valid-looking) ID in order to do anything that is legally prohibited for minors, such as buying alcohol or cigarettes, or going into an adult establishment. May also attract otherwise unwanted attention.
  • Strong Host: Yul Vae failed to fully assimilate Anna into her being, and Anna is still in there somewhere. If Yul Vae (the dominant personality) ever attempts to do something counter to Anna's Nature (Caregiver), the player must roll Faith at a difficulty of 8. If the roll fails, Yul Vae must obey Anna and stop what she is doing. Yul Vae may, however, attempt to beat Anna into submission instead of making this roll; if she does, she must instead roll for Degeneration. If Yul Vae fails this roll, she gains a point of Temporary Torment, and if she botches this roll, she gains a temporary Derangement.

BIO:

Anna started off as an amateur writer in her teens, but as she grew older came to realize she wanted to make it a career. With the help of her online forum friends and some fans of her previous work, she got a degree in creative writing and began making a living writing short fiction of various types and maturity ratings. She makes more than a decent living and is recognized on occasion, but isn't overwhelmingly famous and generally keeps to herself when she can.

HISTORY:

Anna Vermouth was always on her own living in the small 'town' called Hereford, Texas, with only herself to watch over her. She learned to care for herself at a young age due to her childhood circumstances and prefers to keep to herself save for the company of those she trusts in her network of online contacts. Suffering from abuse, she turned to her love of writing to give her comfort and a sense of escapism. Her mother and father were never married, never wanted her and made it abundantly clear whenever they could, and when they weren't beating or screaming at her they were never around. Her mother being a foul-tempered druggie who was always strung out on the couch or off doing fuck-all in order to pay for her habit, and her father just as bad, only he was a lawyer and paid all the bills, and had no issues hitting either one of them. One night, though, he arrived at the house around 1 in the morning and visited her as she was typing one of her stories. He subjected her to an act of violence that left her so repulsed with herself that once he left, she prepared to attempt suicide. There was no sense in living if the world didn't want her, and she no longer gave any care or thought to anything. The blade slid across her wrists, she laid back on her bed, closed her eyes and waited for the pain to stop. Then she woke up the next morning, confused and groggy, but alive. More alive than she'd felt in her entire fucking life. It was time to really show the world what she was made of. Anna packed up her belongings and moved to Orlando, where she obtained a creative writing degree and began making a decent living writing the odd story or novel. As her work spread it gained publishers' attention, and she eventually signed on with a reasonably well-known company and began publishing short pieces of horror fiction along with other genres (romance, action, etc.). There was nothing she couldn't write about, but the one thing she hated was something she couldn't really change; you can't rush a masterpiece, but her employers didn't seem to get the hint. In an effort to get away from the bustle and noise, she made her way to a small town known as Starke to complete her latest addition to her most popular saga of stories, "Demented Dreams" in peace without her bosses constantly breathing down her throat.
