Breeding

Yes. This happens. The Garou Nation view breeding as a very important and highly valued part of life. They don't have enough warriors to protect Gaia and they need to find or make more. Making more tends to be a tiny bit more convenient. That said, there are specific rules for this in the event that your roleplay goes in that direction and they will be listed below.

Romance OUTSIDE of Splat

The Sept of Strange Waters is already weird for having allied themselves with other supernaturals. It is unnatural to be working alongside Vampires and all the other Nightfolk whom most other Garou in the world would love to tear apart.

This means that the Sept CANNOT allow members of the Sept to have romantic relations with other supernaturals, because if they do, the rest of the Garou Nation will come down on the Sept and absolutely destroy it. And then they would go on to add it into the Litany that no Garou can ever become friends with other Nightfolk.

Pretty much, just stick to Kinfolk and normal humans/wolves.

The Statistics

These statistics can be found in W20 Corebook, Page 378. “The Kinfolk Factor” section.

  • Garou / Garou Pairings

Forbidden. No Ifs, Ands or Buts. If you STILL want to break the Litany and have a Garou/Garou relationship, you have been warned. There will be consequences to it. If you can't deal with the extremely harsh consequences of breaking the Litany, DON'T DO IT. The STs will NOT sugar coat the punishments.

  • Garou / Kinfolk Pairings

Considered to be the best pairings for producing Trueborn. 1 in 10 Infants born to this pairing is a Trueborn. Not necessarily the best pairings relationship/romance wise, however. Take that into consideration. The Rage is a curse for a reason.

  • Kinfolk / Kinfolk Pairings

A bit more common than other pairings. Simply because Kinfolk often work together with other Kinfolk. And their partnerships are more acceptable to the Garou than pairings with non-Kinfolk.

Unfortunately, this is where it gets tricky. 1 in 100 Infants born to this pairing is a Trueborn. 50% of that 100 is Kinfolk1). The rest? They do not possess the Garou gene and are considered normal mundane humans.

  • Garou / Non-Kinfolk Pairings

This can and has happened before. Unfortunately, because non-Kinfolk are not immune to the Delirium, this often results in the relationship crashing harder than the Titanic. The Garou's Rage also affects the partner in everyday life… Usually in a negative way.

The percentages of what the child of such a pairing could be depends on multiple factors. As not much research could be done on this however, the exact numbers are unknown.

  • Kinfolk / Non-Kinfolk Pairings

Though not as Rage-riddled as a Garou / non-Kinfolk pairing, this also sometimes leads to frustrating relationships. Kinfolk can and do have anger issues as well and commonly have a hard time fitting into the mundane world. Whether or not they have knowledge of the Garou Nation, this usually leads to tough relationships that likely won't last very long.

As with Garou / non-Kinfolk pairings, the percentages of what the child could be depends on multiple factors and there are no exact numbers.

Getting Busy

Your Characters meet and they blush. They start conversations. One thing leads to another and the romance blooms. Now you're in the bedroom. How to proceed mechanically? First, Ping your STs.

Then, you are both going to have to make stamina rolls. The difficulty ranges from 3 (No protection and screwing like rabbits) to 10 (It would literally take the 1 in 1000 chance of things going wrong for it to actually happen). If you reach 5 successes between the two of you…you'll get a nice surprise.

With that being said, since we have no intention of forcing you to roleplay a pregnant kinfolk (Or female character etc. whatever) for nine IRL months, we are handwaving it time-wise for pregnancy so that it takes 15 weeks. You'll be given your schedule so you know how far along your character is and can roleplay accordingly. If one or both of you is a mad lad who took the Black Fury merit “Unusually Fertile” guess what you get pregnant at 2 successes.

One Little, Two Little, Three Lit- Oh.

After determining if you are going to be a parent, we now roll to see just how many brats you managed to acquire.

  1. Roll a D100.
  2. If the Result is 1 - 90, you got one kid baking in there.
  3. If 91 - 99, congratulations, you now have double the trouble.
  1. If you get 100? You will have to roll another D100.
  2. If your 2nd Result is 1 - 75… Triple Menace.
  3. 76 - 90, have fun with four little Juniors lol.
  4. Anything above 91… Uh… Let's try not to go there, okay? Because that's torture. LOL.

Botching The Stamina Rolls

  • If the male botches you made him pull a groin muscle, you're going at it too hard!
  • If the female botches she gets food poisoning at the exact moment she thinks she should get morning sickness (i.e. false positive)

The Child

It has been 15 weeks since rolling in the sheets. Junior has arrived into the world. Now for the Baptism of Fire, right? Hang on, we will get to that. First, you need to make some rolls.

  • Garou / Kinfolk Pairing
    1. 1 in 10 are Trueborn. This equals to 10%.
    2. Does the Kinfolk parent have a Pure Breed rating? If no, ignore this. If yes, add 5% for every dot the Kinfolk parent has2).
    3. Does the Garou parent have a Pure Breed rating? If no, ignore this. If yes, add 1% for every dot the Garou parent has3).
    4. Roll a D100.
    5. We will be going high. Which means if your Result is above 90, (pending PB additions) you have a Trueborn. 89 and below, you have a Kinfolk infant.
  • Kinfolk / Kinfolk Pairing
    1. 1 in 100 are Trueborn. This equals to 1%.
    2. 50 in 100 are Kinfolk. This equals to 50%.
    3. 49 in that 100 are Mundane. This equals 49%.
    4. Does either parent have a Pure Breed rating? If no, ignore this. If yes, add 5% for every dot4). It is accumulative from both parents if both has PB5).
    5. Roll a D100.
    6. Again, we will go high. Pending PB addition, 100 gets you a Trueborn. 99 - 50 gets you a Kinfolk. 49 to 1 gets you a non-Kinfolk.

Do not make these rolls on your own. Always ALWAYS ping your STs and we will guide you through the process. This is just to give you an idea on how it should work.

Confirming Trueborn

When a Garou is born, they are Garou. Luna chooses from birth. Unfortunately, there is no real way to confirm a Trueborn up until their First Change.

  • W20 Kinfolk Book, page 99. “Kin-Fetches”

“Although a Werewolf is a werewolf from birth, to Scent of the True Form and other spirit magics, they appear to be Kinfolk until the hour of their Change.”

This means we are ruling that you CANNOT guarantee a Garou in character. We will allow you to know OOC, but IC, there is nothing to say if a baby is Trueborn or not.

Baptism of Fire

This rite can and will be performed when requested. It DOES NOT guarantee that your child is Garou. It simply brands your child and attaches a Kin-Fetch to the child just in case they go through a First Change.
