The Mantle of Ur

Altair's Phylactery is not so much an object, as it is a mantle of power. The Mantle of Ur was granted to him when he defeated Hemhemti during his third resurrection. By defeating its previous owner, he gained the power of the mantle himself.

This mantle has many properties, but most importantly it marks him as the lord of the underworld kingdom of Ur, the tombrealm of the god Ur of Ancient Mesopotamia. Ur was the first god to die, having chosen to do so when his people were wiped out by war and famine. What remained after his death were two great powers. His domain, which was absorbed into the domains of Ares, Athena, Thoth and Isis, and the power of his mantle, which remained within his tomb realm.

Spirits have born the Mantle ever since. With Hemhemti taking it from it's previous owner when Ashkabaken threw both of them into the pit, not knowing it was the kingdom of Ur, and Altair reborn, took the mantle from Hemhemti shortly after his resurrection.

Powers and abilities

The mantle itself has several powers linked to the kingdom of Ur. Altair can generate portals into the shadowlands or a portal to Ur itself from anywhere. Likewise he can travel from Ur to any place that he as slept. Allowing him to travel easily between Edfu and Starke.

Additionally the mantle has a strange deific power that allows people to communicate him much like they communicate to gods through prayer. But this power is limited, Altair cannot grant anything asked for, only converse with those praying to him, and the effect only works while he is within the borders of the kingdom of Ur itself.

Phylactery abilities

As a phylactery the mantle has three powers.

First, it continues to have the power of Altair's previous phylactery, the fang of retribution. That being to allow him to transform into a large phoenix, including the power of flight.

Second, the mantle can take the form of any weapon that Altair wishes. But while in this form it can be taken from him, with the normal risks of losing a phylactery. This does not remove the power of the mantle, but he cannot reabsorb this weapon into the mantle till he regains it, and it can be used against him as normal for a phylactery.

Lastly, is the standard sekhem storage power of a phylactery. Balance x5 Sekhem can be stored within the mantle, and used as needed.
