Backstory

Physical Description:
A caucasian man of average height. With dark eyes that bear a despondent expression. His head is full of a messy brown hair, he does brush and groom it but so it looks vaguely disheveled. He keeps a beard he never lets grow too big. Felix is also never seen without his Gauloises(though he will have to eventually find an american brand to replace it).

Felix likes conservative clothes, often a dark coat. The gloomy colors are to match his outward demeanor. If the weather is too hot, he ditches the coat. Favoring button shirts of neutral colors yet with prints he finds amusing.

Personality:
There’s an air to Felix, he appears detached from his surroundings as if his mind is elsewhere. Indeed, he is of an introspective mind. Behind broody eyes his imagination runs wild when not interacting with people directly. He, however, does not shy away from conversation, when he speaks he is well spoken, with a clear yet natural enunciation and makes an attempt to be friendly to all he speaks with. Though at times it's hard for him to hide when a topic loses his interest as he begins to retreat into his own mind once more. He is slow to anger, though he does not leave insults unanswered.

Another tension seems to be in his writing style and his views of life. He gravitates towards stories of darker tones yet he seems quite appreciative of life. Indeed it is all messy and chaotic, but it is one life you have.

Felix is a lover of literature. From novels to comic books. He gravitated towards philosophical works, but he enjoys good entertainment for the pleasure of it. He often spends his times reading. He is not much for social media, he understands it all too well and current pop culture, but his relation to it is of a passive observer rather than someone who actively engages in it. At times it may come across as snobbery, were he not legitimately fascinated by it as a case study. Indeed, despite being highly critical of many things in society, on an individual level he seems to accept people from all walks of life. He will speak his mind if asked or the topic comes up, but there’s an attitude to separate the person from their world view. Unless such views are deemed extremely harmful by the Hollower.

He has a chip on his shoulder about those that project intellectualism yet show no substance. The type to quote books and philosophers in casual conversations, or that display elitism for “consuming the right culture”. In fact, he is extremely skeptical of the idea there is an “objective and right culture” one must have experienced to be smart

Backstory:
Felix’s childhood wasn’t much to speak of, growing up in Marseille he had a pretty typical childhood with two parents who could provide, going to school. Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about his formative years is that as far as he can remember, he has always been quieter and broody, he’d stick his nose in the old books his father, a literature teacher, had laying around the house. From heroic tales to tragic ones. They all held his attention equally. As age dawned on Felix his interest for books accompanied him, as a teenager he begun to take interest in philosophy, particularly Camus and Focault. He’d begin to write as well, inspired both by the novels he read as a child and more philosophical texts he picked up, though his ideas had yet to mature into anything interesting.

Felix studied at the University of Provence, where he studied Philosophy. His time at the university is when he meet an American student who had a fascination with new religious movements, particularly Chaos Magic. This esoteric belief system had an intriguing approach to magic, one that he found quite postmodern. Felix had dived into it hoping to find inspiration for the heroes in his novels, but he wasn’t prepared to find himself enamored with this practice. To know there’s no meaning yet to persist and find power in the chaos or absurdity of it all. He began to study occultism and mysticism through the lenses of Chaos Magic, mingling with other like-minded occultists enthusiasts. Parallel to that, his writing would begin to take a decidedly more esoteric bent to it and this new writing style estranged him to his catholic parents who already disapproved of his detachment to religion and what they thought to be nihilism.

Yet, for all his interest Felix felt himself always chasing the shadows of what he really wanted. Often feeling like he was about to turn a page to finale only to find more pages hidden behind. When he had almost given up however, it is when the realization had come. One night at a bar Felix had been approached by a particularly enthusiastic fan of his books, yet she seemed witty and smart, every word she said was interesting no matter how mundane. Lured into security, the woman bared her fangs at the writer, she promised immortality yet there was a veiled threat to it, he had no choice.

But then again, who had real choice in the senseless chaos? There was an Epiphany, the spark for awakening in a moment of do or die. A formless chaos, evershifting, urged Felix to defy the undead. To use all he had learned and escape. He still doesn’t recall much from that night, but he remembers his attacker fleeing in horror.

Soon after his awakening he was found by an older Hollower, a gentleman in his neighborhood that was considered an “Elder Goth”, he was actually a mentor to the american student that initiated Felix into Chaos Magic. Felix would be instructed and taught about the spheres and mage society before being let go.

Now Felix seeks inspiration for his latest novel, he decides to move into Starke Florida, thinking the American South might just make for an interesting setting.

Main Works A Clockwork Citadel: A mystic finds himself in a strange place. A citadel of brass and bronze, built on clockwork engines. It constantly attempts to expand upon the void that surrounds it. The mystic travels across this strange city, meeting its different inhabitants. His is a surreal journey of mystery and a little bit of magic while trying to understand what drives the strange mechanical creatures to attempt to impose precise order upon the formless reality around them.

Chaos Magic and Postmodernism: A more straightforward and academic analysis of how skepticism about objective truth affected esoteric thought and helped shape this new movement in the 20th century.

Walking After Midnight: A horror story that follows a journalist and her investigation into a series of murders happening in her town, the victims are often teenagers. Her investigations cause her to stumble upon an ancient cult and their conspiracies. Will she save the younger generation from the sins of their forebearers?
